Mohammad Babar Azam was born on October 15, 1994, in Lahore, Pakistan. Coming from a cricketing family -- he is the cousin of former Pakistan cricketers Kamran, Umar, and Adnan Akmal -- Babar showed prodigious talent from a young age. He honed his skills at the tape-ball cricket grounds of Lahore and progressed through Pakistan's age-group system. He made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2015 and quickly announced himself with consistent performances that drew comparisons to the great batters of the modern era.

Babar's batting is characterised by its elegance and classical technique. His cover drives, flicks through midwicket, and ability to pace an innings are reminiscent of the finest stroke-players the game has produced.
