Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan Arman was born on September 20, 1998, in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. Growing up in a country ravaged by decades of conflict, cricket became a source of joy and identity for the young Rashid. He developed his leg-spin bowling at an extraordinarily young age, and by 17 he had already made his ODI debut for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe in 2015. His rapid rise was remarkable even by the standards of prodigious talent, and within two years he had established himself as one of the most feared bowlers in world cricket.

Rashid became the youngest captain in international cricket history when he was appointed Afghanistan's T20I captain at the age of 19 in 2017. His bowling is characterised by a deceptively quick arm action, exceptional variations including a lethal googly, and the ability to bowl with remarkable accuracy and control in the most pressurised situations. In ODIs, his economy rate of just 4.15 and average of 18.56 are among the best in history for any spinner. His 7/18 against the West Indies remains one of the most devastating bowling spells in ODI cricket.

Beyond international cricket, Rashid Khan has become the most sought-after T20 franchise player in the world. He has played in virtually every major T20 league, including the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, the Big Bash League for Adelaide Strikers, The Hundred, the PSL, and the CPL. With over 400 T20 wickets across all competitions, he is arguably the greatest T20 bowler of all time. Rashid has also been a powerful symbol of Afghan cricket's extraordinary emergence, inspiring a generation of young cricketers in his homeland and serving as an ambassador for the sport in one of the world's most challenging environments.
